I learned from Achewood that since this poem is in ballad meter, it can be sung to the tune of Gilligan’s Island.  Since then, try as I might, I haven’t ONCE been able to read it normally.

It’s been at this for two days, and most of the state is underwater. The lights flicker, the wifi comes and goes, the TV blares a constant stream of instant weather updates, and I pretend I’m Captain Nemo. Most of my family is M.I.A. right now, but I’m assuming they’re without power rather than panicing whenever the tornado sirens wail or the news ups the death toll. 

Scary stuff.
